Sharp family papers

Letters by Lemuel Sharp, who served in Cobb's Legion, and by Oliver S. Morton, a cousin, to Lemuel's sisters. The Civil War letters cover 1861 - 1862 during the Peninsula Campaign and describe a naval battle between the Merrimac, the Minnesota, and other ships. Also included are Newton and Monroe Counties, Georgia, legal documents relating to the Richards and Browning families, including a slave hire agreement.
